En el adamant es una película completamente improvisada. Cuando empezamos la grabación, no tenía ni idea de cómo iba a quedar la película, y no pasa nada por ello. Yo opino que la cosa más importante es que tenga un buen punto de partida, como una promesa de que algo va a florecer de ahí. El escritor Julien Green dijo una vez: “Escribo mis libros para descubrir de qué van”. Y yo podría usar esa frase, pero en mis películas. A veces vale simplemente con estar ahí, atento al entorno y creer en ello lo suficiente para que se convierta en ese lugar, los hombres y mujeres en esos personajes de la historia, y esas acciones aparentemente insignificantes en historias auténticas.
