About this event

Has Porto been beautiful by day, but you'd like to see if it's just as stunning at night? Are you curious about where to go after sunset in the city? Come discover, with our local guides, the most iconic buildings, monuments, and stories of nighttime Porto, as well as the must-visit spots to complete your experience in the city, with this free night tour of Porto.

Our tour will begin in front of the old University of Porto, where we’ll explore its long history and importance to the people of Porto. We’ll also go over the unique features, style, and background of the Igrejas do Carmo and das Carmelitas, located right across the street.

Very close by, we’ll find Café Piolho, a landmark establishment historically tied to university life. There are several theories about the origin of its name—why would a café be called “Louse”? While the true origin remains uncertain, we’ll explore the different versions of the story, dating back to the Estado Novo era.

Want to know where to go at night as a tourist? Where to try the best Portuguese food or go dancing? Join us on Rua Galerias de Paris, Porto’s liveliest nightlife street, where we’ll not only find countless spots to eat, drink, and dance, but also dive into the street’s history and its importance to locals.

We’ll explore the Bolhão Market, the city’s most iconic and historic marketplace. Then we’ll head to one of the most famous and photographed churches in the country: the Chapel of Souls. From there, we’ll walk down Porto’s most commercially and historically significant street, Rua Santa Catarina, where we’ll see essential, long-standing buildings key to local life, such as the Grande Hotel do Porto, Café Majestic, Church of Saint Ildefonso, and the São João National Theatre.

We’ll also stroll through one of Porto’s most charming streets, Rua Chã, where we'll take in spectacular views of the illuminated Porto Cathedral and discover the Roman origins of the city through visible remains of its ancient Primitive Wall.

Finally, we’ll make our way to the symbolic Palácio da Bolsa, and end our free tour with breathtaking nighttime views of the Douro River and the neighboring city of Vila Nova de Gaia, from Ribeira, a traditional hub of Porto’s local nightlife.
