Join us on a scenic 10km route from the charming village of Llíber up to the historic Castell d’Aixa, a journey that combines nature, history, and breathtaking views. With a 440m ascent, this trail offers a rewarding challenge for hikers, as well as plenty of opportunities to take in the stunning landscape of the Marina Alta region.

The hike begins in Llíber, winding through traditional Spanish countryside with vineyards, almond trees, and the occasional farmhouse dotting the landscape. The gentle start gives way to more rugged terrain as we make our way toward Castell d’Aixa, an ancient fortress perched on a hilltop. Though only the ruins remain today, the site is steeped in history and provides a fascinating glimpse into the past, with stories of its strategic importance during centuries gone by.

The climb to the summit is well worth the effort, as the top reveals panoramic views stretching across the valleys below, with glimpses of the coast and surrounding mountains on a clear day. It’s an ideal spot to pause, take in the surroundings, and maybe even enjoy a well-earned snack while soaking in the scenery.

The route back down follows a slightly different path, giving us a fresh perspective on the landscape as we descend. With its mix of gentle ascents, scenic views, and historical intrigue, the Llíber to Castell d’Aixa hike is a fantastic choice for those looking to experience the beauty and heritage of this unique corner of Spain. Perfect for regular hikers and those with a love of local history, this route offers an enriching day out that you won’t want to miss!
