Nick Veltmeyer
Nick has created and performed a wide variety of music for over 20 years, as a singer, conductor, organist, pianist, harpsichordist, and composer. Nick is an accomplished interdisciplinary artist who is known for supporting his colleagues, leading many new initiatives and developing a distinctive approach to his productions, blending composition, historical performance, and the oral canon. Past productions include Jimmy and Rosalia, a settler folk opera, which was premiered at Salle Bourgie of le Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal, supported by Canada Council for the Arts, Music Nova Scotia, and Arts Nova Scotia, and, as a winner of the Picanto 7x Festival, and distributed nationally in its digital form by the Canadian Music Centre. He holds a position at the Michaëlle Jean Foundation, working to empower youth through arts, entrepreneurship and social justice and is currently the Director of Music at Dominion-Chalmers United Church in downtown Ottawa, curating and leading concerts in Montreal and Ottawa.
